A lot of things happened today. We spoke with one of the lead surgeons about Scarlett's brain with yesterday's MRI scan, we took out her intubation tube from MRI and put on a CPAP machine to keep her lungs from collapsing, we started feeding her mama's milk again through a tube, we were moved to another room, and some other things.
But the most important thing that happened to me today is that Scarlett, swollen and all, smiled at me while I was talking to her.
Amazing. So happy that you got to see that smile again! Praying for another smile for you!
ReplyDeleteI bet that was the best feeling ever! God is so good! Thanks for the updates we all feel like we are going through this with you and are prayer warriors for your family. May there be many more smiles to come

It brings tears to my eyes, happy tears, that you got a smile from your Butterfly. It is the most amazing feeling when they grace us with those smiles. Still praying and keeping you in our thoughts daily.

ReplyDeleteHooray!!! When your kid smiles at you, it's the most beautiful thing in the entire world. The world could be burning down into ashes around you -- but it doesn't matter because she smiled.

ReplyDeleteWonderful, amazing, precious, miraculous, there are not words to express the feelings that one precious smile can evoke. I am continuing to pray for miraculous healing & for Scarlett to beat this monster. I pray that God will continue to hold your family in his loving, healing hands. With Him anything is possible & she is beating the odds because God has got this. I pray that she will be a living testimony to his healing power for others around her to be encouraged. I am a RN & I work with people that forget this is such a scary, unknown ordeal for you though it may be routine for them. I will tell you if you feel she is in pain please speak up for her, you are her voice & advocate. An elevated heartrate is an indicator of pain, if you think that she is in pain she most likely is. Tell them to give her something, it will not hurt her & untreated pain is an impediment to healing. Make them give her something. As a mother, I can tell you that I am sure you have great intuition & if you feel she is uncomfortable I believe you to be right. Speak up & make yourself heard for Scarlett's sake. She should be given pain medicine regularly. Pain medication given by IV only lasts between 45minutes to 1 1/2 hours so keep that in mind also. If you need anything or have any questions I might can answer feel free to contact me, I have been a RN in ICU for 15 years so I have extensive experience. Praying for you all, Jennifer Sargent
