I'm sorry it's been a few days. I got a few messages wondering what is going on. I've just been trying to keep up with everything, and blogging went to the back burner for a few days. No big changes or emergencies, just busy and not much to tell. Then today, I had a lovely day at the spa for a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. It's been months since I did anything relaxing like that. Plus, I needed a break in a big way. Chris piled Valentine's Day, my birthday, and Mother's Day (and probably our anniversary) into one big day. After my afternoon of pampering and quiet, we went to the movies to see Bridesmaids, which was pretty hilarious (despite the people behind us who repeated nearly every funny line or action...I think a blind person could have enjoyed the movie from their play-by-plays!) So, now that I've had a break, I can write a bit.
Scarlett and momma have had a hard week. She has had trouble eating, and not really keeping down much that she will eat, so we are supplementing with the NG pump much more. I'm sad and frustrated to have her hooked up to something all day, but it seems to help, so we do it. I'm also struggling with how much medication she is taking, and how sleepy the medicine makes her. I feel like she can't make progress or learn anything about the world when she is asleep, but sleeping lets her rest and feel better to be ready for those things another day. The teacher in me wants to keep her moving, but she is not ready. The tired grouch in me wants her to sleep so I can rest. The mother in me just wants her to feel better. I just keep reminding myself (or having the doctors remind me repeatedly) that this is not forever...it will get easier.

Big hugs! I'm so glad you got your day out. It really is wonderful to get those moments of personal time back like that. Praying for a smooth, effective transfusion for Scarlett, and for your worries to ease a little this weekend.
Glad you could get a real relaxing day, you need to take care of yourself to be able to take care of your daughter. She also need the sleep and will be able to "catch up" with all that in the future, in this case I think the mother in you are correct :-)
Much needed! Good Job!
It's like when you are on an airplane and they say, "put on your facemask first and then help those around you." You have to take care of yourself or you won't be any help to Scarlett.
And Chris, me, and my pitiful Mother's day gift to Sylvia, would just like to say, :^P
Supposedly they grow a bunch while sleeping. Hopefully she is working on the growing part while sleeping so she can be ready for lots of learning when her body is ready! Hang in there Momma, you are doing great!

Wonderful to hear that you took some time for yourself to reenergize. You are an amazing woman who is doing a great job being a mom. My family think a about your family on a daily basis. Thank you for letting us into your life.
Glad you got some spa time! You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

glad you had relaxing day! I hope the transfusion goes well. I watched bridesmaids with my sister and I could not stop laughing!!
Hugs from PA
I also read that babies' brains do most of their developing while the baby sleeps. Forming neuron synapses or something. (I don't remember the exact explanation) so you rest easy while she sleeps. One day when this is all behind her, I'm sure she will more than make up for it! Then you'll be chasing her around so much, you'll need a bunch more spa days!! I'm glad you got some time for you - you're a wonderful mommy!! Good luck on the tranfusion Monday! <3 from FL
