Plan

Scarlett will be admitted to the hospital tomorrow, Thursday, for monitoring, fluids and supplemental nutrition until surgery.  They want to bulk her up as best they can and keep a close eye on her vitals as they prepare for surgery.

She is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.  This could be the first of a few very long, very intense surgeries, depending on how her body handles anesthesia and surgery.  She has not had any problems the last two times she was under general anesthesia (for MRI and biopsy last week), so we are optimistic that surgery will be well tolerated this time as well, though it is much more extensive.

We can only hope and pray that we are making the right choice for our precious girl.  The doctors are clear that this is her only chance, so we are going for it.

Sending prayers to you and your family for wisdom and strength, along with wisdom for the surgeons. I cannot get baby Scarlett out of my mind as my baby was born October 30th and I was just in the hospital with a minor respiratory virus. I thought of you while I was holding him with his IV and monitoring wires- so hard. Baby Scarlett is in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong mamma and daddy. Oct. '10 BBC

I saw that a friend of mine posted the link to your blog on facebook and I had to read. Last year one of my co-workers lost his very young daughter to a very rare form of cancer. I'm not sure if it is the same type, but due to the rarety, I figured that it couldn't hurt to send on their links, in case it might help you some. They are on Facebook under Jamie's Run JK5K and can be found on the caringbridge.com/jamieknotts

I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Heard your story and need to let you know that we are praying for your family! Prayers do work, my uncle was diagnosed with colon cancer on monday, today the cancer has not spread and is in one spot-operable! So hang in there!

My husband and I just recently started attending St. Timothy's when we heard about your little girl. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and the doctors who will be doing that very delicate surgery. Please know there are many organizations out there for parents of children with cancer and brain tumors. The Okizu Foundation is one of them and I highly recommend them. Lots of parental support and later on when Scarlett is older there are summer camps for her to attend with kids just like her who have battled early on.
