18 weeks

I decided that I would adjust our weekly pictures to begin showing off some of the wonderful and thoughtful gifts we have received.  First, last week's picture that just got uploaded...
She fell asleep admiring herself in the mirror.  Physical therapy has been helping Scarlett strengthen her neck muscles to tolerate side and stomach laying.

18 weeks.  Thank you for the dress, hat and quilt!

She is refusing to look at the camera (as usual).  This dress is so sweet and fits perfectly right now.    The hat was given to us at the concert a few weeks ago.  The quilt just came last week and is soft flannel that she will love rolling around on.

We have gotten so many wonderful gifts.  In the beginning, I tried so hard to write thank you notes, but now it has gotten away from me.  Please know that we really, truly appreciate everything and save everything for Scarlett to see when she grows up.  We have every card, note and gift that has come our way.  I will try to include things in pictures as much as possible.

I'd also like to say a big THANK YOU to Sylvia Garrett, who has begun coordinating some meal deliveries for us when we are home.  We are so grateful to have some goodies ready to eat.  Thank you to the Resh family for the first delicious meal - chicken and cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, salad, chips and especially the brownies!!!  SO much better than hospital food!

Coming soon...we got the first bills...HOLY COW.

Brandi and Chris you are more than welcome! I'm so happy you enjoyed the meal! I'm so thankful that we could contribute in some small way toward easing the burden of daily life for you 3 while you are shuttling between hospital and home again. We are happy to continue bringing meals as long as you need them. You continue to be in our family's daily prayers. I pray that this week Scarlett is affected as little as possible by the chemo. She looks so precious looking at herself in the mirror. What a beautiful lil' butterfly she is! Let us know if you need Anything...don't hesitate to ask, ok? Sending you lots of prayers and hugs~ The Resh family- LeAnn, Mike, Michaela & Landon <3

Wonderful photos of Scarlett. Thanks for the update and letting us see how she is doing. Meal coordinator? I'd love to be included in that list. Since I am home for now recovering myself I have plenty of time to cook for you folks. Who do I contact and how?

She is so adorable!

As a side note, we organize meals a lot in our neighborhood when someone has a baby, child has surgery etc. We use a free website called www.mealbaby.com. It makes it super easy for people to signup for a night and to even write in what they are bringing (so that the family can plan and also so that other people can see what is being brought when they are deciding what to cook). When it is set up, you can also set up to purchase gift certificates to local restaurants.

It has made the planning so much easier. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the time at home. Give Scarlett extra hugs and kissed from all of us out here who are thinking of her and of you.

And as far as the "thank you notes" go...Please don't give it another thought. When we give to your family, the last thing we want to do is create extra work for you. You and Chris have made it very clear on this blog how thankful you are. The care you take to keep us all updated is a gift to us!

Best,
Kim Reich, Burlington, NC.

As someone who had to deal with crappy insurance and insane hospital bills, I can give you some advice. Definitely call up their billing department and explain your situation. Based on my current income, they were able to forgive over half of the bill and set up a payment plan that was reasonable for me. Don't get stuck with high payments! Negotiate with them. Every hospital has funding in place to help those who can't afford the bills. Good luck! (Scarlett looks great, by the way!!!)

Your comment about the bills made me smile a bit - sorry! :) I remember getting my daughter's 3 week NICU bill (not close to yours, I'm sure) and thankfully Medicad went back to the day she was born - her bill was 73,000.00!! I about fell over! She's precious as always and praying for you always also! :)

I checked out the meals website that Kim suggested and it looks great for later on when the schedule is more routine. Thanks for the info! And Sandy, if you click on my name or picture, it will put you in contact with me. Praying for you guys today as round 2 begins. Sending you many hugs!

I love seeing that she is doing well. Love the pictures, she is so beautiful. Thank you for your continued updates. The bills may be high but they don't compare to how precious she is and how lucky we are to have here on this earth with us.

Hi, I am so glad that she is enjoying the quilt. I am sure that I am not the only one who would say this, knowing that she is enjoying it is the only thanks that I need. You and your family is in my prayers every day.
